The Education Exchange, a non-profit provider of adult education and work readiness training programs in Rhode Island, turned to me in early 2011 to redesign their website and develop an integrated event payment and registration system.
Having already obtained a new logo from another designer, they asked me to complete their online presence with an attractive, accessible and easy-to-use site that would allow them to: publish their materials and resources; post information about upcoming events; and allow users to register and pay for Education Exchange classes online — a big step forward, technologically speaking.
I chose to develop the Education Exchanges site with WordPress, writing custom plugins (as well as utilizing community-driven ones) to extend the system to process registration forms, send emails, and integrate a PayPal checkout.
