Greg Kuwaye has been playing with computers since he was a little boy in O‘ahu, Hawai‘i writing code to the sound of crashing waves. Not the combination you expect, but it worked for Greg who found in programming a dual outlet for both his artistic side and his contained, logical one. His other love is the double bass, which he has played from adolescence through to Brown University, where he formed part of the orchestra. Since then, he’s taken a small break from the bass to pursue a more serious career in web design and programming.
Throughout his time at Brown, Greg concentrated in electronic music studies while continuing to hone his design and site building skills by creating several web sites for emerging organizations. His first major job in the field was as a web developer for the Providence non-profit organization New Roots Providence. He stayed on as a part-time developer even after graduating and moving on to New York City where he quickly found a job as the full-time web designer and co-programmer for The Real Estate Group. A corner office in midtown Manhattan wasn’t quite the life he was looking for so he decided to move to South America, where he first lived in Chile’s capital before settling in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Since leaving the States, Greg’s career in web design has flourished. Thanks to Skype and Gmail, he is able to effectively work with clients from abroad, even from the other side of the equator. He’s designed logos, done maintenance work, re-designed current sites, and created professional web sites from scratch. But Greg is not a stranger to propelling young professionals in their respective metiers. In just a couple of weeks he built a web site for a Buenos Aires based English instructor, turning a newly arrived rookie into a full-time private tutor. These sites, along with many others, make Greg Kuwaye Design, if not worth hiring, at least worth knowing.
